The DeFi Education Fund has called on the Trump administration to halt the prosecution of Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm, labeling it as an overreach by the Biden-era Department of Justice. The case, centered on allegations of laundering $1 billion through the crypto mixer, has sparked debate over the legal boundaries for open-source developers.

Storm’s indictment in August 2023 sets the stage for a July trial, while his counterpart Roman Semenov remains at large. The advocacy group’s April 28 letter to White House crypto advisor David Sacks frames the prosecution as part of a broader pattern of targeting decentralized finance innovators.
